Will AI replace the "classic junior" developer?

The past summer was exceptional for us - we hosted students on Yellows' board as part of an internship program - in the IT sector, to remind you ;).

From the very beginning, we focused on solid onboarding and thorough preparation of the students for work. We assigned them tasks, provided project materials, and assigned mentors. One of the them surprised us with his approach.

A manual testing intern, instead of laboriously learning business processes, decided to use AI tools to generate... dozens of test scenarios! While the number is impressive, it quickly turned out that the automatically generated scenarios were too general and did not meet the project's assumptions. The situation was similar when it came to creating [US] from business documentation - automatically generated stories in bulk, as you might guess, were not suitable for direct use.

After clarifying the details and jointly correcting the semi-finished products, we drew an obvious conclusion...but not quite! The opinion of the intern supervisor surprised us - because despite initial problems, real help and support for the project team appeared much faster than in the past, without the support of AI tools.

And what about you? What are your experiences with using artificial intelligence in the process of developing young talents in your companies or other industries?
