Challenger: SaaS Platform for Fitness & Community Challenges.
Business Context & Goals
The fitness and community apps market is growing rapidly. Influencers, personal trainers, sports organizations, and companies are looking for tools to build engaged communities through various challenges.
The goal of the project was to create:
- a native mobile fitness application ensuring the highest performance and intuitive UX,
- a scalable SaaS platform supporting multiple creators (multi-tenant model),
- a system ready for subscription models and B2B/B2C development,
- a cloud-native architecture prepared for hundreds of thousands of users,
- a solution enabling integration with health and fitness ecosystems.
Key Challenges
Challenger required a solution that combined business flexibility with high technological performance. Key aspects included designing a system ready for growth, further feature development, and multi-tenant management in a single environment.
- designing a multi-tenant architecture with logical data separation,
- building high-performance native applications (iOS/Android),
- handling dynamic rankings and point systems in real-time,
- scaling infrastructure within the Microsoft Azure environment,
- preparing the system for future integrations (API-first approach).
The Solution
Yellows designed and implemented a comprehensive Challenger ecosystem, including:
- native iOS app (Swift),
- native Android app (Kotlin),
- backend REST API in a modular architecture,
- cloud-native environment on Microsoft Azure,
- administrative panel and creator dashboard (Vue.js).
Native Mobile App (iOS / Android)
The primary touchpoint for Challenger platform users. Native mobile apps enable convenient participation in challenges, progress tracking, and social interaction. Key features:
- joining challenges and social groups,
- real-time progress tracking,
- dynamic individual and group rankings,
- points system, badges, and gamification (gamification engine),
- comments, reactions, and social interactions,
- push notifications.
Technology provides:
- high performance,
- smooth animations and interactions,
- stability even under heavy traffic.
Moderator Panel (Creator Dashboard)
A tool supporting challenge organizers in configuration, management, and community activity analysis. It serves as the command center for the entire challenge lifecycle. Features:
- challenge creation and point rule settings,
- defining schedules and rounds,
- user activity analysis,
- member management,
- community KPI monitoring.
Ranking & Analytics System
The platform offers:
- automatic real-time point calculation,
- generation of individual and group rankings,
- advanced dashboards for engagement, activity, and retention,
- architecture ready for advanced AI-driven analytics development.
SaaS Administrative Panel
The admin panel provides comprehensive management of the platform in the SaaS model – from user and creator control to system activity monitoring and billing support. Provides:
- user management,
- subscription and payment model support,
- infrastructure and log monitoring,
- operational reporting and version control,
- configuration of the platform in a multi-tenant environment.
Key to Success
The crucial element of the project was combining a product perspective with a long-term technology strategy. From the start, the platform was designed as a scalable SaaS system, ready for:
- feature development,
- user base growth,
- subscription model development,
- integrations with external services.
Challenger is an example of a modern SaaS mobile platform where technology forms the product foundation, allowing for business scaling and building advanced digital communities.
